Every child shines in their own colour

Two centres, one street, and a room full of children who arrive already curious and already capable. We hand them the paint, the instruments and the puppets — and then we get out of the light.

About Bright Rainbow Childcare

At Bright Rainbow Childcare, days are hands-on, because that's how children learn. Painting and drawing. Music and instruments. Dramatic play and puppets. Blocks, puzzles, and beads. The small, serious independence of tidying up and serving themselves at snack time. Our educators know the children in their care — what they reached for yesterday, what they're working up to, what they need on a hard morning. That's what shapes the room, and it's what you hear about at pickup.

CREATIVITY COMES FIRST

Painting, music, instruments, dramatic play, puppets. The messy part isn't what happens once the real learning is done — it is the real learning.

KNOWN, NOT JUST MINDED

Our educators know what your child reached for yesterday and what they need on a hard morning. That's what shapes the day, and it's what you hear about at pickup.

MULTI CULTURED

We celebrate multicultural occasions because our families are multicultural. Children learn that difference is ordinary by living it, not by being told.

SAFETY ISN'T IMPROVISED

We're licensed by Fraser Health. The colour and the noise are only possible because everything underneath them is careful and checked.

A look around Bright Rainbow

Our philosophy

Learning through play

Children learn with their hands before they learn with their heads. At Bright Rainbow Childcare, that means a day built around doing — mixing the paint, banging the drum, arguing with a puppet, getting the tower to stand on the fourth try. None of it is filler. A child deciding what to build, and what to do when it falls, is a child practising how to think. We just let it look like play, because to them it is.

What the days are made of

Our curriculum

Some of the day the children choose. Some of it we do. Some of it is one child and a puzzle; some of it is everyone singing at once. Some of it is indoors, and some of it is outside no matter the sky. The balance isn't accidental — it's the whole method. Children need room to follow what interests them, and they need someone watching closely enough to build the next thing around it.

Language

A book, a lap, and a child who wants to know what happens next. Story time, singing, finger plays, and questions we're in no hurry to finish answering.

Little hands

Paint, paper, scissors, and beads. Every cut and every brushstroke is a small hand getting ready for a pencil.

Science

Planting, watching, waiting. Caring for the garden, following the caterpillar all the way through, and finding out what happens if.

Emotional skills

The hardest thing a small child does is find the word for what they're feeling. We sit with them until they do — and then we listen.

Close up view of happy and excited kindergarten children under huge rainbow cover supported by other children and teachers. Children enjoying games with colorful canopy.

Large muscle skills

Balls, hoops, bean bags, the parachute, and dancing. Bodies learn things that sitting still can't teach.

Self-help skills

Serving their own lunch, tidying their own mess, and getting their own coat on. Small jobs, done themselves, add up to a child who believes they can.

What families say

In a parent's words

I get an actual conversation at pickup. Not a sheet. They tell me what he built, who he fell out with, and what he ate. I know his day.
